Knights Open Day One Of AAC Championships

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The St. Andrews University men's and women's swimming teams opened up the 2022 AAC Championships on Friday. This year's championship is a three-day event at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.

Day One Highlights:

  • Leon van Rooyen (FR/Gaborone, Botswana) performed a personal best swim in the prelim sessions 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:58.93

  • Willem van Niekerk (JR/Gaborone, Botswana) performed a new personal best time in the 200 yard IM finals with a time of 2:07.53

  • Jeremiah Moretz (JR/Taylorsville, NC) performed a new personal best time in the 50-yard freestyle finals with a time of 23.09

"It was a great first day with three new personal best swims," said head coach Susana Martinez. "We are looking forward to great competition for day 2 of conference."
