Knights Drop Non-Conference Game Against Bearcats
Laurinburg, NC – The Knights Women's lacrosse team went down 11-0 in the first half to the Lander Bearcats. St. Andrews couldn't dig themselves out of the hole falling 21-3.
St. Andrews drops to 2-4 on the season. Lander University improves to 4-5 overall.
How It Happened
The Knights played a man down for the whole game against Lander. The Bearcats offense was clicking on all cylinders from the start, going up 11-0 with 12 minutes left in the first half.
The Knights scored with under 10 minutes left in the half when Karlie Holman (SO/Newburgh, IN) assisted Kelsey Houser (SR/Connelly Springs, NC). Shania Johnson (FR/Hickory, NC) scored a goal a little over a minute later, assisted by Houser, to make it 11-2.
The Bearcats ended the half scoring three more goals to go into halftime up 14-2.
The Knights had 9 shots in the first half while Lander tallied 29. The Bearcats had 10 draw controls while St. Andrews had 6.
The Knights opened the second period with a goal from Kara Cheers (FR/Shallotte, NC). The remainder of the game was all Bearcats as they scored 7 goals en route to a 21-3 win.
The Knights were outshot 41-12 and St. Andrews had 18 ground balls while Lander had 38. The Bearcats finished with 16 draw controls while the Knights finished with 9.

Shania Johnson ended the game with a goal on 5 shots. Johnson finished with 2 draw controls, 4 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers.

St. Andrews will hit the field again on Thursday (March 12) against Nyack College at one.
